On Street Parking Information
During a snow emergency there is a parking ban on city streets. The Ban is strictly enforced and violators can be subject to a $25 fine and can be towed at their own expense. See Chapter 169, Section 35 of the Fitchburg City Code for more info about on street parking during a winter parking ban
In a snow emergency when a parking ban is declared, cars may be left in city parking lots, the first floor of the Putnam Street garage, and the center of the upper level Main Street lot. Cars must be removed within five hours of the end of the parking ban or by the next noontime, whichever is later.
For example, if the ban ends at midnight, then vehicles must be removed by noon; if the ban ends at 7 a.m., then vehicles must be removed by noon; if the ban ends at 7:30 a.m., then vehicles must be removed by noon the next day; if the ban ends at 7 p.m., then vehicles must be removed by noon the next day.
